The umpteenth “annual” Apocalypse Kow Kristmas Kabaret is today (Wednesday), so I hope y’all are ready for fun, friendship, and ffff… eng shui? Festivity, yes, that’ another appropriate “f” word!<\/p>\n
As usual, we have CDs, shirts, and Kow-zoos for sale, and we’ve brought back the Beefy Package that was so popular during Fringe. What’s the Beefy Package, you ask? You get your choice of any shirt and any two of our CDs,\u00a0plus<\/strong> you get your choice of a white or blue Kow logo shirt, 5 Kow-zoos, and a “ceci n’est pas un kow” tote bag! Tote bag, people! And you’re getting it all for $40. And remember, our first two CDs are now only $15. And the latest CD is on iTunes!<\/p>\n But enough of merch plugs.<\/p>\n Another staple of the Apocalypse Kow Kristmas Kabaret is the gingerbread house auction, full of houses made by your favourite Kows. We’ve had many memorable houses, some of which turned out the way they did because the houses broke and we had to make last-minute changes. Or first-minute changes. You get the idea. In recent years, the houses we’ve bought have come pre-built, but that doesn’t mean Kow is content with using just the kit. No, your Kows search high and low (at Save-On) for other ingredients to add to the houses to make them unique–breakfast cereals, mints, chocolate, sprinkles, anything to make those houses attractive to potential bidders.<\/p>\n This year, the money raised from our gingerbread house auction is going toward typhoon relief in the Phillipines. But you may be asking yourself: does that mean you’re raising money for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada, typhoon relief,\u00a0and<\/em>\u00a0collecting food for the Edmonton Food Bank? The answer, dear reader, is yes. Devin originally conceived of a Christmas show as a way to keep us rehearsing, because back then, we only seemed to rehearse in earnest when we had a show to work towards. Now, a decade later, we put on our Kristmas Kabaret to help those in need, to have fun with friends and family, and, yes, so we rehearse more after the Fringe.<\/p>\n We hope you’ll join us this year!
